Vote No On Prop 34

Stop corporate landlords from silencing nonprofits.

Don’t Be Fooled by 34
Prop 34 is a revenge initiative funded by corporate landlords and billionaires through the California Apartment Association (CAA). They want to strip AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) of its nonprofit status and disrupt its global lifesaving work—all because AHF supports rent control in California.

Why do Corporate Landlords Care about Healthcare?
They don't.
The CAA, a front group for corporate landlords, created Prop 34 specifically to kneecap AIDS Healthcare Foundation –  in retaliation for its sponsorship of Prop 33, which advocates for rent control. If the CAA cared about patients, it wouldn’t be trying to dismantle the world’s largest AIDS organization, with 2.1 million lives in care.
Consumer Watchdog said about Prop 34, “[It] is a poorly veiled attempt by the California Apartment Association to silence a political adversary. If it is allowed to be put to the voters, no organization in the future will be safe from similar retribution by monied opponents.”

The Hidden Agenda
Corporate special interests have their hands all over this initiative. They do not care about misleading voters and will say anything to silence their opponents. Billionaire corporate landlords claim that AHF is costing taxpayers when the same landlords continue to increase rents, withhold security deposits, and squeeze their tenants dry. They do not care about taxpayers.
AHF uses the 340B drug discount program to provide affordable healthcare across the country, which doesn’t cost taxpayers anything.

The Solution:
Vote No on 34
Prop 34 is a billionaire-backed effort to silence AHF over its support for rent control. Voting NO stops corporate landlords from abusing the ballot initiative process to attack a healthcare nonprofit fighting for patients and tenants.
Prop 34 is a slippery slope. If corporate landlords get away with silencing AHF using a misleading ballot initiative, there’s no telling who they will attack next.
